Media advisory: Team Alberta training camp in Edmonton June 23-24

Jun. 22, 2018

Media are invited to the Team Alberta 2018 training camp at the Saville Community Sports Centre on Saturday and Sunday for video and photo as well as interview opportunities with the province’s top young basketball players and coaches.

The Alberta Basketball Association provincial teams are preparing for the upcoming Basketball Canada 2018 National Championships. Kamloops, B.C., will host the Boys Under-15 and Under-17 championships, while the Girls Under-15 and Under-17 championships take place in Fredericton, N.B. Both tournaments run Aug. 6-11.

Alberta’s hoopsters are looking to make another step forward following an incredibly successful 2017, which saw all four finish in the top five of their respective national tournaments, highlighted by the 17U Boys bringing home a silver medal from the Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg.

The head coaches are among the brightest basketball minds in the province, including Mount Royal Cougars women’s head coach Nate McKibbon (15U Girls), Lethbrdige Pronghorns women’s assistant coach Dave Waknuk (17U Girls), Concordia Thunder men’s head coach Reagan Wood (15U) and MacEwan Griffins men’s head coach Eric Magdanz (17U Boys).

Practices are open to media for photo and video. Interview opportunities are available at the conclusion of practice.
