Teams from across the province took part in the first ever FIBA 3X3 Satellite Event hosted in Edmonton by Alberta Basketball. The FIBA 3x3 Edmonton Satellite Event was held at the Saville Community Sports Centre on March 24, 2019.

Team Edmonton defeated Team Grande Prairie 21-12 in the final to win the event championship and will now move on to the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Challenger in Wuxi, China on April 13 and 14.

The talented Edmonton roster featured Jordan Baker, Jordan Jensen-Whyte, Kyle Landry, and Steve Sir.

“FIBA 3x3's Road to the Olympics has begun for Canada and Team Edmonton,” says Paul Sir, executive director of the Alberta Basketball Association. “The Satellite was a great tournament with outstanding play from all teams competing. We hope this is the beginning of a record-setting year for the growth of the newest Olympic sport in our city and province.  We look forward to many more teams getting involved and competing to representing Canada. Best of luck to Team Edmonton in China!”

In 2020, 3x3 will make its debut as an official Olympic sport at the Summer Games in Tokyo.

More details will be announced shortly about the exciting lineup of 3x3 events coming to Edmonton in 2019.
