Updated statement from Alberta Basketball Association on COVID19

Mar. 20, 2020

Due to rapidly evolving circumstances as well as recommendations from the AHS and Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta's Chief Medical Officer, and actions currently being undertaken to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus, all Alberta Basketball Association sanctioned activities, programs and events are postponed indefinitely until further notice. The ABA office will be closed until further notice; however, the staff will be working remotely and can be reached by email or by phone.

The safety and well being of all ABA members, stakeholders and the public are the first and foremost priority.

ABA advises all member organizations, members and stakeholders to follow Provincial recommendations and not engage in any congregated activity such as practices, games, events or tournaments until further notice. At this time Alberta Basketball will not be sanctioning any basketball related activities. Please note that any organization that chooses to continue with basketball related activities during this time will be doing so unsanctioned, at their own risk and without insurance coverages in place.

At this time, ABA will not be accepting new club or organization membership until further notice. We will be following up with all clubs and organizations at a later date to follow up.

As updates become available, we will provide further information. Thank you for your patience and understanding; please be safe, we wish you all good health in the upcoming days.
