We are Alberta July 30th Update

NEW THIS WEEK!

ABA RETURN APPROVED PROGRAM

Greetings from the Staff at ABA!

We all hope you are doing well. This is certainly a different summer than any we have ever seen before and the challenge that COVID-19 presents us is ongoing.

ABA has been actively looking at how we can best keep the basketball community informed with guidance from our Provincial Government, Insurance Company and Canada Basketball to present considerations and guidelines to slowly and safely get back to playing basketball. Much continues to happen and future insights are surely expected to be forthcoming.

With registration for the 2020-2021 Season of Play about to start, ABA has been continuing our communication with the above mentioned groups as well as many others to determine what best practices are needed as we move forward.

One common step we have seen taken by other PSO’s is clubs, organizations and cohorts submitting their safety protocols to ensure a safe return in the fall. ABA has implemented this step along with others to assure all involved that a thoughtful plan is in place as a commitment to sport safety. A series of video meetings are being organized to offer further clarification on the best practices and protocols.

The information in the following e-blast will give you a brief description of what protocols to follow and for more details follow the links provided. Please feel free to call or email us with any questions.

ABA wants to thank all for understanding the challenges we are all facing and taking extra care to provide a safe 'Return to Play' foundation as we move forward together. Remember, We Are Alberta!

Thank you.

Paul J. Sir

Executive Director

As part of ongoing efforts to keep the province’s basketball community informed on Return to Play guidelines relating to the COVID-19 pandemic, ABA is providing a new platform that will allow people to have their questions answered.

Questions can be submitted via a special form. ABA will draw upon the knowledge of our staff, government officials, and experts in relevant fields to provide the most complete and accurate answers possible. All questions and answers will be posted and updated regularly on the Return to Play Answers.

With Government of Alberta guidelines and Alberta Basketball Return to Play guidelines now being in place we are able to again offer NCCP Clinics. We will resume clinics in August with Learn to Train offerings in Edmonton and Calgary.

Calgary Learn to Train - August 14-15

Edmonton Learn to Train - August 15-16

Please note - you must be prepared to follow all health regulations and return to play protocols, including having a mask, to attend. With updated guidance from the department of Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation we have been able to open these clinics to coaches from anywhere in the province.
