ABA alum Yvonne Ejim makes Gonzaga debut

Team Alberta alum Yvonne Ejim of Calgary made her NCAA Division-1 debut for the Gonzaga women's basketball team on Sunday, November 29 during the No. 21-ranked Bulldogs game against the top-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks at the Bad Boys Mowers Crossover Classic at the Stanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Yconne was part of Team Alberta at the Basketball Canada National Championships in 2016 (U15), 2018 and 2019 (U17), and represented her province at the 2017 Canada Summer Games. She was a three-time tournament All-Star at the Canada Basketball national championships (U17 Second Team in 2019 and 2018, U15 Second Team in 2016).

A six-foot-one forward, Yvonne has represented her country on three occasions, suiting up for Canada at the 2017 U16 FIBA Americas Championship, 2018 U17 FIBA World Cup, and 2019 U19 FIBA World Cup. During her stellar high school career, Yvonne was a two-time (2019 and 2020) Bio Steel All-Canadian Game selection.

Yvonne, who signed a letter of intent with Gonzaga University on November 13, 2019, joins fellow Team Alberta alum Brynn Masikewich playing NCAA Division 1 Women's Basketball. Masikewich, also of Calgary, is in her second year at UCLA, where she is a member of the Bruins.

Gonzaga is back in action at the Bad Boy Mowers Crossover Classic on Monday, November 30, against South Dakota.
