Calgary's JC Brooks Named to Team Canada For FIBA U16 Americas

Calgary’s Jaeden (JC) Brooks will represent Canada at the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2021, Aug. 23-29 in Xalapa, Mexico.

JC was among 12 players Canada Basketball named to its U16 national team in an announcement made Aug. 18, following a selection/training camp at Humber College in Etobicoke, Ont., from Aug. 11 to 18.

A six-foot-seven power forward, JC has been involved with Alberta Basketball Association provincial team programming, and was invited to the Team Alberta Boys U15 final selection camp in March 2020, before it was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Canada is in Group A at the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2021 and will face Argentina (Aug. 23, 4:30 PM MT), Mexico (Aug. 24, 7:30 PM MT) and Brazil (Aug. 25, 4:30 PM MT). All teams advance to the quarterfinals, with the winners advancing to the semifinals and qualifying for the FIBA U17 World Cup 2022. All games will be streamed live on FIBA’s YouTube channel.

Canada has won silver at each of the last three editions of the FIBA U16 Americas Championship, and is currently ranked No. 2 in the FIBA worldwide ranking.
