Have you ever wanted to become a basketball official? Now is your chance! The Edmonton Basketball Officials Association (EBOA) is offering this clinic to new and aspiring basketball officials. Our dynamic and experienced clinicians will guide you through the current FIBA rules, on-court mechanics, approved signals and general game management strategies.

The clinic for NOCP Level 1 candidates is split over two weekends (September 23 and September 30).

The first date (which you can register for here) is for the Theory and Knowledge portion of the clinic and will include an exam at the end of the first day. Those candidates that receive a passing mark (70%) on their Exam will be invited to the final weekend for Practical assessments. Practical assessments will happen in conjunction with the Edmonton Youth Basketball Association on September 30, at the Saville Centre (U of A). Invitations to register for the second weekend will be sent out following the clinic exam results on September 23.

In addition to covering the costs of facilities and clinician's fees, your clinic fee includes an EBOA orientation booklet and a whistle.

Officials who attend the September 2023 clinic and did not pass the Exam will be permitted to register for any future new officials' clinic. This clinic is for new candidates only.

We have limited the clinic intake to 100 candidates and anticipate that the clinic will fill up very quickly. We encourage you to register soon in order to reserve a spot. A clinic fee of $59.37 per candidate is required at the time of registration.

Registration closes on Friday September 22 at 12:00 PM MST. No late registrations will be accepted and you cannot register on the day of the clinic.

Please note that no refunds will be issued for candidates that do not pass the Knowledge Exam portion of the clinic. There is no additional fee required for the Practical component of the clinic.

Successful candidates who pass the Theory and Knowledge portion and the on-court practical can purchase the official referee jersey immediately following the practical.
