2024 Team Alberta

Every summer, Team Alberta unifies players from all over our province under one banner to represent Alberta, creating a lifetime of memories as they partake at elite events hosted in locations from B.C. to Atlantic Canada. Team Alberta has a proud history, winning numerous medals over the years, and its alumni have gone on to excel at the highest levels of the hoops, from post-secondary to professional and even the Olympic Games. Our provincial team program’s goal is to identify athletes who have the potential to develop and reach the next levels in our sport. This may include attending post-secondary programs, National Team programs and professional leagues.

Years of Eligibility:

15U - 2009, 2010, 2011

17U - 2007, 2008

 Registration is closed. Walk up registrations will be accepted with proof of ABA membership and payment of tryout fee via e-transfer onsite.

Partner Hotel Information:

ABA is partnering with the Wyndham Hotel in Edmonton and the Holiday Inn in Calgary to provide a great rate for families travelling for the Team Alberta tryouts. Please find the hotel booking information here.

Schedule Outline for All Teams:

• Tryouts

  • Open Regional Tryout: Calgary/Edmonton

    • Athletes should be at 1 of the 2 regional sessions 

    • Approximatley 20 athletes will be selected at each Regional Tryout to move forward to the TAB Top 40 Assessment

    • The list of selected athletes from each regional tryout will be posted on the individual team pages above.

  • Top 40 Assessment

    • Selected athletes invited from the Open Regional Session

    • If successful in being selected from this assessment athletes will be invited to the Top 25 Assessment

  • Top 25 Assessment 

    • Selected athletes invited from the TAB Top 25 Assessment

    • 15 athletes will be selected to be on our Team Alberta Teams

    • Lists will be posted at 4:00 PM the Tuesday following week.

• Training

  • Team Alberta Training Weekend: June 14 - 16 in Edmonton

    • 12 roster spots and 3 alternate spots will be designated

  • Week 1 Training: July 21st - July 27th

  • Week 2 Training :July 28th - August 3rd

• Competition:

• August 5th - 10th Canada Basketball Nationals

  • Girls: Newfoundland

  • Boys: Ontario

• August 4th & 11th Travel Days
