Team Alberta's Swanton-Rodgers named to U16 National Team

Congratulations to Alberta provincial team member Caelum Swanton-Rodgers of Calgary on being named to the Canada Basketball U16 men's national team.

The team will compete at the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2019 in Belém, Brazil, June 3 to 9. Canada is in Group B along with hosts Brazil, Puerto Rico and Uruguay.  Click here for the full tournament schedule.

Canada earned a silver medal at the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2017 in Formosa, Argentina. This will be Canada’s sixth appearance since the FIBA U16 Americas Championship began in 2009, with the country medalling in each of their previous five tournaments.

Swanton-Rodgers, who attends Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School, is part of the 2019 Alberta Basketball 17U Boys team that will compete at the Canada Basketball national championships this summer. He was also a member of the 2018 Alberta Basketball 15U Boys team.

The six-foot-nine Swanton-Rodgers is one of two Calgary natives on the Canadian roster, along with Jayden Webley.
