ABA Official Sanctioning Policy Announcement

Jun. 06, 2018

On September 1, 2018, Alberta Basketball Association will be implementing its Official Sanctioning Policy.

This will unite the basketball community under one umbrella, meeting standards that ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all players, coaches, team managers, officials and spectators.

Included will be comprehensive services such as Full Sanctioning Assurance with Active Governance, Police Checks, Insurance, access to AGLC programs, working with trained and certified officials, Coaching Development (under the Canada Basketball NCCP programs), Player Development (including player camps, clinics, access to tryouts and high performance programs), a multitude of events, special 'Members Only' values and much more.

As a result of this vital initiative, ABA's Board of Directors has approved the new fee of $25 per player, coach, team managers and administrators for a 2018-19 full membership, which will be valid for all seasons from September 1, 2018, to August 31, 2019. This represents ABA’s first membership rate increase since 1995. There will also be club and league fees as laid out in the sanctioning information.

Details of this program are explained in the following Sanctioning Link. Please do not hesitate to contact the ABA office by email at info@basketballalberta.ca or by phone at 780-427-9044 with any questions.

ABA appreciates the essential role of its members and looks forward to working in unison to grow and advance the game at all levels provincewide.

Yours in basketball,
