Sep. 16, 2019

Members of the Canada Basketball senior women's national team got together with girls varsity basketball team members from Jasper Place high school in Edmonton for a panel on the topic of women in sports leadership.

The special event took place on Monday, Sept. 16, and will be followed by a second panel discussion with Ross Sheppard high school girls varsity basketball players on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

Team Canada veterans Kim Gaucher, Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe and Miranda Ayim, along with head coach Lisa Thomaidis participated in the Jasper Place panel, while the Ross Sheppard panel will include a trio of Team Canada's top young players, Ruth Hamblin, Shay Colley and Sami Hill, as well as assistant coach Carly Clarke.

The panels are a part of ongoing community outreach by the Canada Basketball senior women's national team, an effort in conjunction with the Alberta Basketball Association. The national team makes its home training base at the Saville Community Sports Centre in Edmonton.
