Team Alberta made history at the 2024 Canada Basketball National Championships after going undefeated over the final day of competition on Saturday (Aug. 10) in St. John’s, NL, and Toronto, Ont.

Alberta’s 15U Men’s, 17U Men’s, 15U Women’s and 17U Women’s teams each won the third-place game of their respective division, giving Alberta an incredible four bronze medals. This marks the first time since the modern Canada Basketball National Championships began in 2002 that Alberta captured a medal of any colour from all four divisions.

Saturday’s scores:

  • 15U Men’s Bronze Medal: Alberta 69, British Columbia 66
  • 17U Men’s Bronze Medal: Alberta 82, Quebec 77
  • 15U Women’s Bronze Medal: Alberta 77, British Columbia 51
  • 17U Women’s Bronze Medal: Alberta 70, British Columbia 62 (OT)

“We’re ecstatic with our team’s performances at the National Championships,” says Dave Drabiuk, Alberta Basketball Association (ABA) Executive Director. “Winning four medals is a historic achievement that shows the high level of basketball in the province. Our players and coaches did Alberta proud.”
