Alberta Basketball Association (ABA) alumni were instrumental in Canada making history at the FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup 2024 , which took place in San Juan, Puerto Rico, from Dec. 13 to 15.
Kacie Bosch (Lethbridge) and Katherine Plouffe (Edmonton) helped the Canadian 3x3 Women’s National Team defeat the United States 19-18 (overtime) in the final on Dec. 15. The gold medal is the second for the Canadian women at the FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup, tying the United States for most all-time in the annual tournament.

Over five games, Bosch averaged 1.0 points and 2.4 rebounds while Plouffe averaged 7.2 points and a tournament-high 7.8 rebounds. Sir was named to the Men’s Tournament All-Star Team after leading all players with an incredible 86% shooting efficiency.
“Feels great. They were all battles for sure…but we fought hard, and it’s a lot of fun when you win,” Plouffe said.
“You have to take what you did well and move forward,” said Sir. “You have to learn from what you didn’t get done and keep pushing.”
Congratulations to the ABA alumni and all the Canadian athletes on their tremendous success in San Juan.
