Tryouts begin for 2025 Team Alberta

Nearly 450 athletes turned out for 2025 Team Alberta regional open tryouts over the weekend of Jan. 11 and 12.

Men’s tryouts took place on Jan. 11 at the Ralph Klein Centre in Olds and on Jan. 12 at the Saville Community Sports Centre in Edmonton. Women’s tryouts got underway on Jan. 12 at Prolific Sport House in Calgary and continues on Jan. 19 at the Saville Community Sports Centre.

This marks the beginning of the process of trying out for the Alberta Basketball Association (ABA) teams that will represent Alberta in national competition this coming summer.

ABA’s 15U Boys and 15U Girls teams will compete at the 2025 Canada Basketball National Championships in Ontario, while the 17U Boys and 17U Girls teams will compete at Canada Summer Games in Newfoundland.

The next stage in process are invitational tryouts. scheduled for April 5 at the Saville Community Sports Centre. Full details are available on the 2025 Team Alberta page.

Alberta Basketball Association (ABA) provincial teams made history last summer by sweeping all four bronze medals (15U Boys, 15U Girls, 17U Boys, 17U Girls) at the Canada Basketball National Championships in Toronto and St. John’s.
