Alberta Basketball Association (ABA) has announced that the 2025 ABA Club Invitational is taking place in Edmonton at the Saville Community Sports Centre and EYBA Centre from May 30 to June 1.
The highly anticipated second edition of the annual tournament will see boys and girls teams from across Alberta battle for provincial supremacy in 11U, 13U and 15U divisions. Participating clubs are based on ABA Member in Good Standing status. Registration available later this month via the ABA website.
“This event is an opportunity for ABA member clubs to compete at the highest levels in a safe environment and serves to showcase the tremendous young talent in our province,” says Dave Drabiuk, ABA Executive Director.
The University of Lethbridge played host to the inaugural ABA Club Invitational last July. Champions included teams representing Calgary’s Genesis Basketball and the ITD Panthers Basketball Club of Edmonton.
Beginning next year, the ABA Club Invitational will serve annually as a qualifier for Canada Basketball’s national club championship. Canada Basketball is set to stage its very first club championship event in 2026.
“We’re excited to build on the tremendous success of last year as the ABA Club Invitational becomes an annual staple on the basketball calendar,” Drabiuk says.
The 2025 ABA Club Invitational will take place alongside ABA’s 3x3 tournament, comprising divisions from U11 to adult. More details about the 3x3 tournament will be unveiled over the next several weeks.
