Alberta Basketball Association alumnus Delaney Gibb of the BYU Cougars has been dubbed the unanimous Big 12 Womenโs Basketball Freshman of the Year and named to the All-Big 12 Second and All-Freshman teams. The Big 12 announced its annual awards and honours for 2024-25 on March 4.

Among all NCAA Division 1 womenโs basketball freshman, Gibb finished the regular season with the third highest points per game average (17.5) and sixth highest assists per game (4.2). The guard from Raymond also averaged 5.5 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 0.5 blocks. During the 2024-25 season, Gibb received Big 12 Freshman of the Week honours 10 times, second most in conference history.
Before attending BYU, Gibb helped Alberta win gold in female basketball at the 2022 Canada Summer Games. She also competed for Team Alberta at the 15U Girls Canada Basketball National Championships in 2019, receiving first team all-star honours.
