Alberta Basketball Association (ABA) alumnus Nate Petrone of the Calgary Dinos has been named the 2025 recipient of the Mike Moser Memorial Trophy, awarded to the most valuable player in U Sports men’s basketball. The Calgary native received the honour during the All-Canadian Award Ceremony in Vancouver on March 12.

Petrone led U Sports with 484 points and was second with an average of 24.2 points per game during the regular season. He also finished among the top 10 in U Sports for field goal percentage (56.8%) and assists (99).
Calgary defeated the UBC Thunderbirds by a score of109-96 in the Canada West championship on March 7. The Dinos will face Queen’s in the quarterfinal round of the U Sports Final 8 championship on March 13.
A native of Calgary, Petrone represented Alberta at the 2017 Canada Basketball 17U Boys National Championships.
