The first Big Bri Memorial Tournament takes place on Jan. 2-3, 2026, at The King’s University in Edmonton. The tournament honours the legacy of the late Brian Anstice, who coached The King’s women’s basketball team for seven seasons.
Men’s and women’s basketball teams from NAIT, SAIT, St. Mary’s University and The King’s University will each play twice during an action-packed weekend of hoops at The King’s University gymnasium, located at 9125 50 St. All proceeds from admission will go towards Toast of the Town in support of the Cure Cancer Foundation. Please see below for the full game schedule.
Anstice was a pillar of amateur sport, coaching for more than four decades in a multitude of sports, from basketball to football. He served on the Alberta Basketball Association board of directors and volunteered his time to many organizations, including Edmonton Youth Basketball.
His dedication, generosity, and passion for helping others were unmatched. Through his work with Toast of the Town, planning events and fundraisers, Anstice helped raise millions for those in need. In 2024, Anstice was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal, for his remarkable contributions to the cancer fundraising community.
