Alberta Basketball alumnus Adong Makuoi has been selected to the 2018 BioSteel All-Canadian High School Basketball Game next month in Toronto.
The fourth annual event, featuring the top 24 male athletes born in 1999 or later who are Canadian-born or enrolled in a Canadian institution, will be broadcast live across the TSN network on April 9 at 6 p.m. MT.
A six-foot-nine combo forward, Makuoi is a member of the Class of 2018 at TRC Academy in Brantford, Ont. He previously attended Archbishop O’Leary high school in his native Edmonton.
Makuoi was named a Second Team All-Star at the 2016 Canada Basketball U17 Boys National Championship in Winnipeg, where he averaged 16.8 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2,6 blocks in six games for Team Alberta.
Previous Alberta Basketball alumni selected to the BioSteel All-Canadian Game include Awak Piom, in the inaugural 2015 game, and Aher Uguak two years ago.
Piom currently plays for the University of Lethbridge, while Uguak (2016) is a redshirt at the University Loyola-Chicago Ramblers (after transferring from the University of New Mexico), who will play in the Sweet Sixteen of March Madness later this week.
Rosters for the 2018 BioSteel All-Canadian Game were announced during halftime of TSN’s broadcast of the Toronto Raptors game against Oklahoma City on Sunday. The athletes were chosen by an eight-person selection committee comprised of a cross-section of Canadian basketball stakeholders, including Alberta Basketball Technical Director Greg Francis.
