Youth Provincials 2020 tips off in Edmonton

Mar. 07, 2020

Alberta Basketball Youth Provincials 2020 tipped off at the Saville Community Sports Centre on Friday, March 6, with nearly 140 teams from across the province and as far away as Nunavut coming together in Edmonton for two days of spirited competition.

"Alberta Madness" began with the opening ceremonies, which featured special guest Tamara Tatham, a two-time Olympian as well as a Pan American and FIBA Americas gold medalist with the Canadian women's basketball team, who in 2018 became the first woman to be part of an NBA G-League coaching staff, working as an assistant for Raptors 905.

The ceremonies were followed by several hours of non-stop hoops, played out across the Saville Centre courts with games in U11, U13, U15 and U18 divisions.

The action continues all days Saturday, March 7, culminating with the championship games in each division. For schedules and additional information, please visit the Youth Provincials 2020 page.

Admission is free and spectators are welcome to come out and cheer on Alberta's next basketball generation.
