Alberta Pandas win Canada West championship

Powered by homegrown talent, the Alberta Pandas defeated the Calgary Dinos 76-65 at Jack Simpson Gym in Calgary on March 4 to capture the first Canada West women’s basketball championship in University of Alberta history.

The team’s 2022-23 roster features 10 players from Alberta. Several ABA provincial team alumni have been key contributors to the team, including Spruce Grove product Jenna Harpe, who led all players with 20 points in the Pandas’ victory over Calgary.

Alberta now goes on to play in the 2023 U Sports Final 8 women’s basketball championship, taking place March 9 - 12 in Sydney, N.S. The Pandas' first game is against Acadia at 11 a.m. MST on March 9,
