Calgary's top high school players compete in Selects All-Star games

Calgary’s top high school basketball players competed in the Calgary High School Selects Basketball All-Star games for boys and girls on March 12 at Crescent Heights High School.

Boys all-star teams were coached by Phil Barndt (John G. Diefenbaker), Tim Bowles (Joane Cardinal Schubert), Rachel Kolmatiski (James Fowler), Shaun Loewen (James Fowler) and Jeff Rondeau (Ernest Manning). Karen Cheney (Henry Wisewood), Jennifer Le (James Fowler), Adam Sandbeck (Joane Cardinal Schubert) and Carson Reveen (Dr. EP Scarlett) coached in the girls game. Complete rosters can be viewed here.

Between games, nine players were presented with the John Townley Scholarship, valued at $1,000 each. Recipients included Ava Britton (St. Mary’s), James Censon (Bishop O’Byrne), Woodli Cime (Centennial), Vanessa Cruz (St. Francis), Shelby Dean (Crescent Heights), Julian Morris (Western), Jiya Samrai (James Fowler), Deklan Stead (Joane Cardinal Schubert).
