Albertans help Canadian Women's 3x3 Team qualify for Olympics

May. 19, 2024

With a roster comprised primarily of Alberta athletes, the Canadian Women’s 3x3 Team has qualified for the 2024 Summer Games.

Canada punched its ticket for Paris by finishing third at the 2024 FIBA 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Hungary, which ran from May 16 to 19. The top three teams earned an Olympic berth, and Canada secured the last spot with a 21-10 victory over host Hungary in the 3rd place game on May 19.

Canada’s four-player roster features a trio of Albertans, all who during their youth were part of Alberta Basketball Association (ABA) provincial team programming: Kacie Bosch of Lethbridge, and Edmonton’s Katherine Plouffe and Michelle Plouffe. The roster also includes Saskatchewan’s Paige Crozon.

Bosch, Crozon, Plouffe and Plouffe become the country’s first ever 3x3 team to qualify for an Olympic Games.

The 3x3 competition at the 2024 Summer Games takes place from July 30 to Aug. 5 at La Concorde in Paris.
