All four provincial teams advance to semi-finals at National Championships

For just the second time since modern version of the Canada Basketball National Championships began in 2002, all four Alberta teams are going to the semi-final round.

Alberta’s U15 Girls, U17 Girls and U17 Boys all won on Thursday (Aug. 8) to advance to the semis, joining the U15 Boys who had already punched their semi-final ticket with a victory Nova Scotia on Wednesday (Aug. 7).

 

All semi-final games will take place on Friday (Aug. 9), followed on Saturday (Aug. 10) with the gold and bronze medal games on Saturday. The only other time every Albertan team reached the semis was in 2022.

The 2024 Canada Basketball National Championships are being held in Toronto at York University (Boys) and St. John’s at Memorial University of Newfoundland (Girls).

Team Alberta’s Thursday results:

  • 15U Girls 77, Saskatchewan 47
  • 17U Girls 67, Saskatchewan 37
  • 17U Boys 98, Saskatchewan 58

Team Alberta’s Friday schedule:

  • 15U Girls vs. Quebec - 10:00 am MT
  • 17U Girls vs. Quebec - 12:15 pm MT
  • 15U Boys vs. Ontario - 4:00 pm MT
  • 17U Boys vs. British Columbia - 4:00 pm MT
