U23 Women's Roster Invitees Announced for GLOBL JAM

Canada Basketball announced Friday the 17 athletes set to take part in U23 Women’s National Team training camp beginning Saturday at Humber College in Toronto ahead of GLOBL JAM.

GLOBL JAM, the world-class international basketball showcase, returns to Toronto this summer, July 12-16, and will feature women’s and men’s Under-23 teams from around the world taking to the court at Toronto’s Mattamy Athletic Centre and broadcast nationally across Sportsnet platforms.

Training camp will take place from July 1-9 at Humber College in Toronto.

Among the training camp invitees are five athletes who starred on Canada’s GLOBL JAM winning team in 2022 in Shy Day-Wilson, Phillipina Kyei, Rosalie Mercille, Sarah Te-Biasu and Tara Wallack.lso included is Keishana Washington, who wrapped up her collegiate career earlier this year with the Drexel Dragons, before then spending time in training camp with the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA. Washington was a finalist for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year and was also named an Associated Press All-American honourable mention.

Four U SPORTS players are also a part of the 17-player list — Regina’s Jade Belmore, Cape Breton’s Kiyara Letlow, Alberta’s Claire Signatovich and Carleton’s Kali Pocrinic, who won both the OUA Championship and U SPORTS National Championship with the Ravens women’s basketball team this past season.

As announced this May, Christa Eniojukan will serve as Canada’s U23 Women’s National Team’s head coach at GLOBL JAM. Eniojukan, who is the University of York Lions women’s basketball team head coach, will be joined by assistant coaches Ajay Sharma and Tenicha Gittens and performance analyst Carrie Watts on the staff.

Eniojukan is looking to lead Canada to a GLOBL JAM gold medal for the second-straight year after a 2022 tournament saw the U23 Women’s National Team finish a perfect 5-0 in the inaugural event.

With a round-robin preliminary round format, Canada will face Team Africa (July 12, 5:30 PM ET), USA, who is represented by the University of Louisville Cardinals, (July 13, 5:30 PM ET) and Puerto Rico (July 15, 5:30 PM ET), before the top two teams face off for gold on July 16th at 5:00 PM ET.

GLOBL JAM tickets are now on sale via Ticketmaster, starting at less than $20 per session for two games.
