University of Calgary men’s basketball guard Nate Petrone has been named the Alberta Basketball Association (ABA) Alumni of the Week for Jan. 13 - 19.
Petrone poured in 36 points, the most by any player in Canada West this season, to lead the Dinos to a 102-92 victory over the Manitoba Bisons in Winnipeg on Jan. 18.

The fourth-year student-athlete shot 11-for-16 from the field, including six-of-nine on three-pointers, and made all eight of his free-throw attempts. He also grabbed four rebounds and recorded two assists as the Dinos, ranked No. 2 in U Sports, knocked off the No. 10-ranked Bisons.
Petrone leads Canada West in scoring this season, with an average of 25.0 points per game through 12 games. Among qualified players in conference play, he ranks third for field-goal percentage (59.9%), fourth for three-point percentage (50.0%) and second for free-throw percentage (90.1%).
A native of Calgary, Petrone represented Alberta at the 2017 Canada Basketball 17U Boys National Championships.
