ABA Alumni of the Week: Raya Hafez
University of Toronto women’s basketball student-athlete Raya Hafez has been named the Alberta Basketball Association (ABA) Alumni of the Week for Feb. 3 - Feb. 9.
Hafez, a second-year guard, helped the Varsity Blues get their first road win of the 2024-25 OUA regular season on Feb. 8 against Lakehead University. She scored 11 points, grabbed a career-high 9 rebounds and equalled her career high with two steals as Toronto defeated the host Thunderwolves 61-60 in Thunder Bay.
The Calgary native has started all 20 games for the Varsity Blues this season, averaging a team-best 11.6 points per game. She is also averaging 3.1 rebounds per game and ranks second on the team with an average of 1.6 assists per game.
Hafez won bronze as a member of Alberta’s 17U Girls team at the 2022 Canada Basketball National Championships.
