University of Saskatchewan women’s basketball student-athlete Tea DeMong has been named the Alberta Basketball Association (ABA) Alumni of the Week for Feb. 17 - Feb. 23.
The fourth-year forward scored 14 points while shooting 6 of 9 from the field to help the Huskies to an 83-57 victory over the Trinity Western Spartans in the Canada West quarterfinals on Feb. 22. She also recorded 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals in the game, which took place at the University of Saskatchewan’s Physical Activity Centre in Saskatoon.
Saskatchewan is the number 1 seed in the Canada West playoffs and will host the UFV Cascades in a semi-final on March 1.
DeMong, who comes from St. Albert, authored one of the most decorated careers in Team Alberta history. She was a Second Team All-Star at the 2017 Girls 15U Canada Basketball National Championships, a Second Team All-Star at the 2018 Girls 17U National Championships, and a First Team All-Star at the Girls 17U National Championships in 2019 when she led Alberta to a silver medal.
