University of Oregon women’s basketball student-athlete Phillipina Kyei has been named the Alberta Basketball Association (ABA) Alumni of the Week for March 17-23.
Over two games in the NCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball Tournament, the senior center averaged 10.5 points, 11 rebounds and 1.5 blocks.

In the first round, on March 21, Kyei recorded 7 points and 9 rebounds to help the Ducks defeat Vanderbilt 77-73 in overtime for their first NCAA Tournament win in four years. She then racked up 14 points and 13 boards in the second round, as the Ducks came up just short against Duke by a score of 59-53 on March 23.
A native of Calgary, Kyei represented her province at the 15U Canada Basketball National Championships in 2018, and helped Team Alberta win silver at the 17U Canada Baksetball Championships in 2019.
